At midday today, the Holy Father received members of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organisations.
A lot has happened on the interfaith front, both at home and abroad, throughout 2008, which was designated European Year of Intercultural Dialogue by the European Union and marked the 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
"Anything is possible in America", president elect Barack Obama declared standing before the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC, on his way to his inauguration on January 20 as the first African American president of the United States.
The theme of the Colloquium was "Responsibilities of Religious Leaders especially in Times of Crisis."
The Catholic and the Muslim participants agreed on the following:
